QNAP introduces new smart and affordable managed switches

The Taiwanese company has expanded its catalog of manageable switches with the new QNAP QGD-1600 and 1602, a family of smart edge switches that is committed to offering a solid value in price-performance ratio, and that has a starting price really affordable.

The QGD-1600 is an intelligent peripheral switch with 16 Gigabit ports/switch cybersecurity. For its part, the QGD-1602 is an intelligent peripheral switch with eight 2.5GbE ports which also has 8 Gigabit/cybersecurity switch ports. Both models adopt Layer 2 network management and software-defined functions, allowing the execution of virtual machines to implement VPN networks, firewalls and network management functions.

As we see, both models have a very interesting range of features, but it doesn’t end there. As if all of the above were not enough, they are also compatible with the ADRA series NDR software, which allows them to offer extensive cybersecurity protection for all LAN devices connected at the access layer to the switch.

The ADRA series NDR proactively flags and automatically blocks suspicious lateral movements of our local network using threat traps and rapid detection systems, so that it protects private and confidential data against different types of malicious attacks.

The QNAP QGD-1600 and QGD-1602 feature the QTS operating system, allowing them to run QNAP software and virtual machine applications such as QuWAN, QNAP’s SD-WAN solution, which offers full mesh IPsec VPN topology between multi-site based QNAP devices to meet the needs of archiving, data ERP, VoIP and video systems for companies. They are also compatible with the Zabbix network management platform, which allows IT staff to automatically detect SNMP-compliant servers/devices and monitor network status.

In the attached image we can see the key specifications of both switches in their different versions and configurations.

Alex Shih, Product Manager at QNAP, commented:

“Our QGD smart edge switches innovatively integrate NAS and switch functions and have received positive feedback from our users. The addition of affordable non-PoE models, QGD-1600 and QGD-1602, offers an affordable and comprehensive network solution with cybersecurity software for better LAN security or to run virtual machines for more software applications.”
