S2 Grupo opens an advanced cybersecurity center in Madrid

S2 Group has expanded its facilities in Madrid with the opening of a new advanced cybersecurity center. With this opening, in which various personalities and the company’s managing partners, Miguel A. Juan and José Rosell, have participated, the company reinforces its presence in Madrid, which has become one of the strategic points of cybersecurity in Europe .

S2 Grupo has also grown considerably in the capital in recent years, to such an extent that its activity in Madrid corresponds to 60% of its turnover. Currently, a team of more than 160 people works for S2 Grupo in the city, and the company has plans to increase hiring for this team. On the other hand, the company plans to close 2022 with a business volume that exceeds 30 million euros.

The new headquarters of the company is an office from which cybersecurity services will be provided to the whole world, for different companies and entities. R+D+i development tasks will also be carried out.

José Rosell, one of the managing partners of S2 Grouphas pointed out that «The growth we have experienced in recent years is mainly due to the fact that since the pandemic there has been a very high increase in cyberattacks both in quantity and impact, they are becoming more sophisticated and complex. This has forced companies and Public Administrations to do their homework in this area and demand to work with cybersecurity specialists, such as the people who are part of the S2 Grupo team, because they are aware of the risks we face.«.

In this context, the company has focused one of its attention on the importance of achieving digital sovereignty in relation to cybersecurity. In this regard, Miguel A. Juan, the other managing partner of S2 Grouphas highlighted that «To continue advancing a cybersecure world and minimize the risks of cyber espionage, among others, we need to stop being technologically dependent on other countries such as the US, China or Israel. We need to have digital sovereignty. For this reason, at S2 Grupo we will continue to invest in R&D&i and in the development of our own technology, because it is the only path that will allow us to create solutions that allow Europe to be technologically independent in the field of cybersecurity.«.

The opening of this new S2 Group center was attended by the Local Administration and Digitization Minister of Madrid, who announced that the new digital Strategy of the Community of Madrid will include a specific line on cybersecurity. He has also pointed out that the administration’s commitment to cybersecurity will be consolidated with the opening of an Agency that guarantees and promotes the online protection of the regional and local administration. In addition, he has assured that the Community will support and promote cybersecurity training for its citizens and companies.

The company, founded in 2004 and with more than 580 employees, has since 2019 participating in projects with the European Cybersecurity Agency (Enisa) for the cyber protection of the European health system. In addition to Madrid, S2 Grupo has offices in Valencia, Seville, Barcelona, ​​San Sebastián, Brussels, Brindisi, Bogotá, Santiago de Chile, Mexico, Rotterdam and Lisbon. It closed 2021 with a turnover of around 25 million euros, an amount that represents a rise compared to 2020 that exceeds 30%.
