The future iPhone SE would have a strong argument against Android smartphones

Almost two years after the 2nd generation iPhone SE, Apple could soon offer a new generation of its entry-level smartphone. And if the device should look a lot like its predecessor, it would have another advantage to oppose to the competition: its price!

Apple is not a brand known for its cheap prices. It’s even quite the opposite! The manufacturer justifies its high prices by the quality of its products, their longevity and long-term software support. With the range of iPhone SE, the manufacturer has yet tried something else. It’s not a discount smartphone, far from it: the second generation works with an A13 chip whose performance still goes up to the most recent Android devices.

An even lower price?

But to bring the price down to €489 ($399 in the US), compromises have been made on the screen, design, camera and some features. In fact, the iPhone SE is an iPhone 8 with Touch ID, chunky bezels around the 4.7-inch LCD screen, and while the device still takes pretty pictures, there’s only a single sensor.

For many budget-conscious users, the iPhone SE is still a bargain, especially on the used or refurbished market. Two years after the launch of this model, Apple should renew this range with a 3rd generation iPhone SE. Most rumors agree that the design will be very close, as will the footprint.

On the other hand, the smartphone could embed a more recent chip and above all, it would be able to connect to 5G. Added to this is the possibility of a lower price: analyst John Donovan speaks of a price of $300, instead of the current $399. At this price level, manufacturers like OPPO, Xiaomi or even Samsung (with the Galaxy A range) could tremble.

An Apple smartphone as powerful as the top of the Android range and which surfs in 5G would indeed have something to attract many potential buyers! Answer, perhaps, from March 8, the date of the manufacturer’s next keynote.
