The electric car brand Invicta took advantage of the Barcelona Motor Show to present the Pony, an electric city quadricycle that comes to ride on the grounds of Citroën’s AMI.

If when we talk about electric cars, it is rather SUVs, sedans and other overpowered models like the Tesla Model S Plaid that grab the headlines, small city cars are the vehicles intended for ordinary motorists : they cost less, and it is easier to park them. It is on this buoyant segment that the Spanish brand Invicta intends to place itself, with the announcement of the marketing of the Pony.

The Pony from Invicta is actually a variation designed for the European market of the BAW Yuanbao from BAIC. From the Chinese mini EV, it retains the measurements: 3.16 m long and 1.50 m wide. She also keeps her 20 kW motor and 13.6 kWh battery. The Pony should benefit from a autonomy of 130 km, but this figure remains to be confirmed. Recharging should take between 6 and 8 hours.

The Invictus Pony is a heavy electric motor quadricycle sold for less than €20,000

The similarities with BAIC’s heavy motor quadricycle end there. In effect, the Pony will only be available in a 3-door version, and can accommodate a maximum of two occupants (against three for the Chinese model, thanks to its rear seat). In this sense, it will be rather a direct competitor of the Citroën AMI, even if it will not be a car without a license strictly speaking.

The Invicta Pony should make its grand debut on the Old Continent from the end of the Automobile Barcelona 2023 show, which runs until May 21, 2023. Another major difference with the Chinese platform from which it draws its inspiration: its price. While Middle Kingdom customers can buy the Yuanbao for less than €6,500, European customers will have to pay no less than €16,995 to get behind the wheel.
