This mini PC from Lenovo has a professional NVIDIA graphics card!

The well-known manufacturer Lenovo has presented a series of new desktop computers, classified by themselves as hybrids since they are a kind of mixture of “normal” PC and workstation, since they are equipped with professional hardware. But the most striking is the Lenovo ThinkStation P3 Tinyin mini PC format and that, indeed, also has a NVIDIA dedicated professional graphics card. We tell you everything below.

In general, a workstation The workstation differs from a normal PC precisely in that its use is going to be professional, and therefore it has some specific hardware features for work, such as a dedicated graphics card or a professional processor. Although a normal PC can perform these professional tasks without problems, workstations are optimized for it and, when it comes to high workloads, their performance is logically superior.

Of course, having specific and dedicated hardware for professional tasks usually entails special cooling solutions, as well as dedicated spaces inside the system. For this reason, it is precisely quite shocking news to learn that Lenovo has integrated a professional GPU into the size of a mini PC, computers that stand out for the little space they take up… how did they do it? Let’s see it.

Lenovo’s mini PC with a professional NVIDIA T1000

Lenovo’s new ThinkStation P3 Tiny has dimensions of just 183 x 179 x 37 mm (yes, 3.7 centimeters high, nothing more), but we must not be fooled by its size because under the hood it has the latest technology available; For starters, the manufacturer has integrated a motherboard with Intel’s Q760 chipset, which allows for mounting processors ranging from the low-power Intel Core i3-13100T to a whole Core i9-13900 desktop… and this is already impressive on a mini PC!

As impressive as the processor options that we will have is the choice of graphics card, since this mini PC is offered with NVIDIA T400 graphics of 4 GB GDDR6 or a whole NVIDIA T1000 8GB GDDR6, in both cases with a myriad of connection options that include up to 4 mini DisplayPorts (3 in the case of the T400), a DisplayPort and an HDMI, as you can see in the image above.

Connectivity options (while we’re at it) also include one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, four USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, headphone/mic combo, and of course , an RJ-45 Ethernet port that offers Gigabit connectivity and 2.5GbE. In addition, inside it also has a WiFi 6E + Bluetooth 5.1 combo card, so as you can see, it is not that it falls short in terms of connectivity.

Completing the technical specifications of this small mini PC we have up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM at 4,800 MHz in SO-DIMM format and two M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 sockets that each support SSDs of up to 2 TB (so you can have 4TB of SSD storage). Depending on the internal hardware chosen (which, as you can see, there are different options) these Lenovo ThinkStation P3 Tiny will come with an external power supply of 170, 230 or 300 watts.

Price and availability

Lenovo has said that it expects the new ThinkStation P3 family of products (which includes the Tiny mini PCs we’ve talked about here as well as the more normal Tower and Ultra sized ones) to be available by the end of May. , but they have not said a word about the price at which they will sell them (seeing their technical specifications, the top-of-the-range models can easily go to 2,000 Euros, although this is our assumption).

By the way, Lenovo has confirmed that at initial launch these computers will be available with Windows 11, but in a couple of months they will offer options with linux ubuntu factory installed.
