this Windows 11 patch will make your games fly

More and more users decide to give a try to Windows 11, and those who realize all the problems that this system has, especially those who have already installed the 2022 update, 22H2, released a couple of months ago. This update, more than improving and evolving the system, has left it full of problems and bugs, both in the system itself and, for example, when playing. After a long wait, today we finally bring some great news for players.

A few hours ago, Microsoft released a new cumulative patch for Windows 11 22H2, the KB5020044. This is a maintenance patch focused on correcting problems in the system and, incidentally, adding some functionality or feature that was left unanswered with the launch of the system. All users can now find this patch, as an optional update, on Windows Update. And, among its many changes, one of them should be highlighted: finally fixed performance issues when playing.

KB5020044: major changes

As we can see on the Microsoft update page, this patch finally addresses and fixes a series of bugs related to the debugging function of the graphics card, which were directly affecting the performance of the computer. Therefore, once this update is installed, the games will finally work again without problems, more stable, and with much higher FPS.

In addition to this long-awaited fix, the new Windows 11 22H2 update also introduces several new features in a package called “Moment 2«. These new features were planned for the release of the 2022 update but, for various reasons, had to be postponed. Among others, the novelties that we will find after installing this new patch are:

  • Now we will see alerts when we run out of space in OneDrive within the Windows settings page.
  • If we have multiple accounts, we will see the total storage space on the profile page.
  • On the personalization page we will now see a combination between Windows Spotlight and Themes.

Other fixes

In addition to all of the above, this patch also addresses other very important fixes so that we do not have problems when using the operating system. The most important that we find are:

  • Fixed an issue that caused some apps to not launch.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Windows Explorer to crash, especially when closing a context menu, and cause it to close.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some applications to stop working when using the “open with” option.

We can see the complete list of fixes in this patch in the following link.

How to update

As it is an optional patch, the update is not installed automatically on the systems, we have to do it ourselves. To do this, what we have to do is open the Windows Configuration menu (using the keyboard shortcut Windows + I), and go to the Windows Update section. Here we can see the update ready to download and install. And, if it does not appear, we must perform a manual search for updates from the button.

If we do not install this update on our own, we must also take into account that, on December 12, Microsoft will release its new cumulative and security patches, which, in addition to other fixes, will include the changes of this optional update.

Install it by hand today, or wait two weeks, it’s up to you.
