Video handover of the new Samsung Galaxy S22

Samsung has just announced its new flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra. We were able to take them in hand, in photo and video.

Freshly announced in February, we were able to take control of the brand new Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra. These three new models represent the premium and flagship smartphones of the Korean firm this year. If the S22 and the S22+ are classic and do not evolve especially in terms of design, it is once again the S22 Ultra which stands out with a design that is reminiscent of the fiery Galaxy Note20 Ultra.

And it’s not for nothing since the Galaxy S22 Ultra not only supports the S Pen but includes a location to store it like on the Galaxy Note lights. On the hardware side, the S Pen has not especially evolved since it was already very impressive. However, this year, Samsung worked with Wacom on stroke prediction technologies, which saves latency and therefore provides a more natural experience when using the S Pen.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

As with its predecessors, the new Galaxy S22 and S22+ offer a flat screen with a design that is well inspired by the S21 but more flattened and refined but still with a polycarbonate back. The Galaxy S22 Ultra, on the other hand, is very reminiscent of the design of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra with a minimalist design and so-called floating sensors, all with a glass finish on the back. All offer a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with Full HD+ definition for the S22/S22+ and Quad HD+ for the S22 Ultra.

We obviously find on the three smartphones a refresh rate of 120Hz. They are all HDR10+ certified. The fingerprint sensor under the screen is still an ultrasonic type of the same generation as that of the S21. The design and finish of the S22 are worthy of a premium smartphone. The integration of the photo block, whether on the S22/S22+ or the S22 Ultra is absolutely beautiful and allows a real differentiation with its direct competitors. The Galaxy S22s offer you AKG stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos support of course. For the handling itself, we are on familiar ground with the S22 and S22+. On the other hand, the S22 Ultra remains a large smartphone and may prove too large for some. It is above all a question of habit but we are really reaching the limit.

Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+

As a reminder, the Galaxy S22 are equipped with an Exynos 2200 SoC while the American versions will be entitled to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. From our quick start, while waiting for a real test, we did not note any particular problems.

In photo, for the technical characteristics, we redirect you to the announcement for the explanations around the choices of Samsung. Of course, we haven’t been able to test the photo part yet and we can’t wait to test this part. Note that the photo block of the S22 Ultra is the same as that of the S21 Ultra but with this new design, it seems less impressive.
