Why has Avatar disappeared from Disney+?

It seems that it did not help him to break all the records. Avatar, the greatest movie of all time has been withdrawal from the Disney+ platform. The feature film has disappeared without notice, and it is strange, because at the end of this year, everything indicates that we will finally be able to go to the cinema to see its sequel. What has happened? Is it another rights issue?

James Cameron changed all the schemes at the end of the year 2009, when Avatar hit theaters. Her film was a success, and the techniques used, as well as the 3D technology used in the film, marked a before and after in the way of making films. Soon they told us that there would be more films in this saga, but the thing was delayed until this year 2022. The next December 16 will hit theaters Avatar: The Sense of Water. However, now that you were surely interested in refreshing —never better said— your memory, the original 2009 movie has vanished from Disney Plus. Copyright? Platform change? Not quite.

Disney withdraws Avatar to bring it back to the cinema

What has happened here is just another Disney masterstroke. The producer has decided remaster Avatar and bring it back to theaters on September 23. Re-release Avatar in theaters is something that has been speculated for a long time. Why? Currently, Avatar it remains the highest-grossing film in history, with a worldwide gross of some $2.847 million. And the problem here is that Avengers: Endgame close on his heels with 2,789 million.

We knew that one of the two would end with a revival, and everything indicates that Avatar has been the one that has moved first to maintain its leadership. The remastered version will arrive a couple of months before the sequel.

A somewhat controversial maneuver

We will all agree that Avatar is not exactly the movie you should see in your living room. Surely more than one fan was looking forward to this moment, especially to see the work in 3D again. However, removing the film from Disney+ a month before this re-release is a bit of an ugly tactic. Surely, the remaster will end up being published on Disney + shortly before Avatar 2 arrives, but the debate will already be served.

Currently, we already know that The Avatar Saga Will Feature A Total Of Five Movies. The third part is scheduled for December 2024. Regarding the remastering, James Cameron has spoken about the work that has been done on the original Avatar material. According to the artist, they have pushed the limits of the film by increasing the frame rate -we assume that with artificial intelligence techniques-, higher resolution, better 3D and a substantial improvement in high dynamic range. Additionally, many of the visual effects have been reworked to further enhance an already brilliant experience on its own.
