Entrepreneurs are sought to provide innovative solutions to water challenges

The LIFE ECODIGESTION 2.0 project summons the Startup Europe Awards (SEUA)an event to promote the exchange of experiences, add value to the business ecosystem and help startups to grow and position themselves in the market.

The deadline to present the candidacies is extended until Monday, July 31 and the winners will be announced on September 20 and 21, within the framework of Greencities and S-Moving in the Palace of Fairs and Congresses of Malaga (FYCMA).

Two challenges: water and energy efficiency

LIFE ECO 2.0 SEUA wants to locate those ideas, initiatives or projects that offer products, services or methodologies that are committed to innovation in the field of circular economy and sustainability in sectors such as water, energy and waste recovery, responding to the following challenges:

Challenge 1: Improvement of the generation of biogas in the Wastewater Treatment Plants (EDAR) and energy improvement of the same

With this challenge, the aim is to achieve first-class technology applied to wastewater treatment, which allows saving energy costs, and to look for companies and entrepreneurs that promote the generation of biogas, improve the efficiency of its production or its subsequent use in services such as fleets. of public vehicles with the objectives of circular economy and sustainable mobility as the main axis.

Challenge 2: Sustainable technology for the recovery of sludge from Wastewater Treatment Plants (EDAR)

This challenge seeks a project or initiative that provides a sustainable technological solution for the treatment and elimination of sewage sludge and its subsequent recovery. Two criteria that will be prioritized is that it must be a sustainable technology and capable of transforming the limited use of sludge (typically agricultural applications such as fertilizers) into ways of generating value and profitability (for example, co-production of biofuel).

SMEs, corporations, startups, scaleups, spin-offs, universities, students and anyone who is interested in undertaking, who belongs to or develops their activity in sectors related to water, energy and the circular economy and who can provide solutions may apply. innovative to the proposed challenges.

Prize: European acceleration ticket

The selected application will benefit from a European acceleration ticket, based on:

  1. mentoring: personalized consultations for projects adapted to each sector and training in European funds through an e-learning platform.
  2. Networking/Lobbying: assistance and relationship management within the EU framework and in the creation and management of contact networks, advice on the European legal framework and support for the internationalization of the project.
  3. EU funding: accompaniment to convert the winning ideas or proposals into European projects that can be implemented within the thematic framework of application

A jury, made up of João SimãoCEO of the Portuguese Water Partnership; Mark BarkerCEO of Wex Globa, and Elias ColomCorporate Marketing Director at Global Omnium , will assess and evaluate the proposals submitted based on their viability, the response they give to the challenges posed, innovation, internationalization and investment, and viability of the business model.
