Konami announces Silent Hill 2 remake, a movie and more games

Yesterday was the Silent Hill event that Konami announced days ago. Fortunately, we can say that it has not disappointed, starting with the fact that the Silent Hill 2 Remakewhich is considered by most fans as the best installment of the saga.

As far as the Silent Hill 2 Remake is concerned, quite a few aspects of the game are already known. To begin with, its development is carried out by Bloober Team, the Polish company behind The Medium. as graphics engine It will use Unreal Engine 5 and will have versions for PC and PlayStation 5.

In the trailer published by Konami you can see a graphic finish and a very changed James Sunderland in his physical appearance, to the point of being practically unrecognizable compared to the original title. In addition, the game file is already published on Steam with the minimum and recommended requirements, and the truth is that these may give the occasional scare seeing that the minimum graphics required, at least for now, is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080.

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 3 3300X
  • RAM Memory: 12GB

The successive crises in recent years have made it difficult for many to renew the PC. On the other hand, it is not strange to see that the system requirements for the games are somewhat inflated, but make no mistake, because everything indicates that Konami’s mythical survival horror, still without a release date, will return demanding a lot at the level of hardware.

But the Silent Hill 2 remake was not the only thing shown at the event, as Konami has also announced a project called Silent Hill F which will be set in Japan in the 1960s; Silent Hill: Townfall, a spin off developed by No Code Studios and published by Annapurna Interactive; in addition to Silent Hill: Ascensionwhich intends “simmerse participants from around the world in the psychological horror at the heart of Silent Hill in a way like no other”. Here there are only trailers and teasers that do not show much, except to reveal that Konami has decided to slipstream to take advantage of the fact that survival horror is now in fashion, largely thanks to the rival saga within this segment: Resident Evil.

And finally we have the movie, titled Return to Silent Hill (at least in its English version), which will be directed by the same person who was in charge of the first adaptation that was released in theaters in 2006: Christophe Gans. The 2006 film has in its favor the fact that it is a good adaptation, but at the same time it did not fully capture the oppressive setting of the games. We’ll see if this new production corrects that detail, especially for people who have never played Silent Hill.

And so far everything that the event organized by Konami around the resurrection of Silent Hill has given, which has been quite a lot. We leave you with the full video for the curious.
