MINISFORUM prepares a very powerful and very compact mini PC

The MINISFORUM firm is working on a new compact mini PC that, however, will be able to offer a high level of performance, thanks to its powerful Ryzen 9 5900X processor, which has a configuration of 12 cores and 24 threads, and its internal space to mount a dedicated graphics card, something that is not usual in this type of equipment.

According to MINISFORUM, this new team will have measures of 166.5 x 158 x 67 mm, it will support SSD units in M.2 format with PCIE Gen4 interface and will use liquid metal to improve cooling, and reduce working temperatures. The latter is something that seems quite necessary to us, since in a compact team, with minimal internal space, heat can end up being a problem, and every degree counts.

This equipment will be compatible with Ryzen 5000 series APUs, including the top-of-the-range, powerful Ryzen 7 5700G, and it will also allow to mount Ryzen 9 5900X processors, as we have anticipated. The latter do not have an integrated GPU, but it will not be a problem because, as we have said, we can install a dedicated graphics card. However, MINISFORUM It has not detailed what ceiling we will have in this regard, at least not clearly, as we will see below.

According to MINISFORUM, the team could reach consume between 120 and 1,000 watts, but that scale seems excessive for a compact mini PC, especially since dissipating 1,000 watts of heat in a small chassis is almost impossible. I’m not saying impossible directly because they still have some surprises up their sleeve, but I see it unlikely. The only thing I can think of is that they are referencing a configuration of external graphics card, something that fits, although taken by the hair, with that data that they have given.

A computer like this, configured with a Ryzen 9 5900X and a dedicated graphics card, could become a great option for professionals in rendering, video and photo editing, content creation and others using demanding applications that require a high level of performance, but do not want to deal with bulky and heavy equipment. It would also allow them to unify work and leisure in a single team. The price has not transcended.
