Overlord 4: the first trailer reveals the release period of the fourth season

The first official trailer of Overlord 4, the fourth season of the anime series based on the futuristic light novels of Kugane Maruyama.

The promotional video, visible right below and published by the official website of the anime, also reveals the release period of the new episodes that should debut in the course of 2022.

At the same time as the trailer, the key visual of this fourth season was also revealed which, therefore, will arrive four years after the conclusion of Overlord 3, whose last episode aired in 2018.

Naoyuki Itou returns to direct the anime at the studios Madhouse with Yukie Sugawara who will again take care of writing and supervising the scripts. Also Satoshi Tasaki he is an old acquaintance, as he will return as the person responsible for the character design of the characters.

Overlord’s first anime series, article in 13 episodes, premiered in Japan in July 2015. The second season premiered in January 2018 and concluded in April of the same year, while Overlord 3 kicked off in July 2018.

What is Overlord about?

The history of the franchise takes place in the year 2138, when virtual reality games are booming. Yggdrasil, a popular online game, is quietly shut down one day. However, the protagonist Momonga decides not to disconnect.

Momonga is then transformed into the image of a skeleton as “the most powerful wizard”. The world continues to change, with non-player characters (NPCs) starting to feel emotions.

Having no parents, friends or place in society, Momonga strives to conquer this new gaming reality that has become her new world.

Kugane Maruyama started the original Overlord light novel series online in 2010, and Kadokawa’s Enterbrain label began publishing the printed version with illustrations signed by so-bin in 2012.

The light novel and the Overlord manga are published in Italy by J-POP Manga.
