Smart TV with Alexa built-in, is it really useful or is it useless?

This is a question that we may be asking ourselves if we have a smart television and want to get the most out of it. Because you won’t be able to use Alexa on your TV if it’s too old or its operating system isn’t compatible with Amazon’s artificial intelligence. If you have a Smart TV, then you may want to know in detail the uses that you can give it by working with Alexa, more directly with the Amazon speakers.

Intuitive operation

Although you will have to configure the commands to adjust them to the functions of the TV, the way in which the commands are sent and received is the same. That is to say, a voice command to increase or decrease the volume, to play the movie that we want to see (and it is available) or to change the HDMI source. It is also possible that Alexa is fully integrated into the TV. In this case, the command can be used to send the command. As we can see, it is a very interesting option to improve our comfort at home. But what if I don’t have an Alexa-compatible TV?

Smart TV with Alexa voice assistant

There is also a solution for this case. Amazon’s Fire TV Stick device is capable of performing similar functions and can be found on the marketplace website for just €39.90. You can also enjoy a Smart TV with all its advantages by getting the Amazon Echo smart speaker (although you need Alexa compatibility).

A single voice command to control the TV

If you have already confirmed that your television is suitable to work with Alexa and you have already linked the TV to the speaker, all you have to do is think about what utilities you are going to get from this function. Well, it’s something as simple as thinking that from now on instead of using the remote to change the channel or choose a movie, you just have to say it and Alexa will do it for you. So easy?

It will be that easy to send the order to the loudspeaker so that it executes the order and the TV obeys. The only thing that could set us back would be buying a Smart TV that integrates this technology or carrying out the process that allows us to later send the voice command. However, thinking about the time it would save us, the balance settles on the fact that it is really useful.

Currently, a large number of Smart TV manufacturers work with Amazon technology and make use of Alexa, such as Samsung. The Asian manufacturer has fully integrated Alexa since 2020 in all its models. So do LG TVs and most of Hisense Smart TVs. The same does not happen with Sony that operates with Android TV.

As we can see, there are different options that allow you to connect Alexa to your television without it being integrated into it. Therefore, the choice to change the TV to be able to use the Amazon assistant becomes more an option strictly for convenience than necessity.
