Foundation, The Expanse, The Mandalorian… science fiction series are experiencing their heyday and this 2022 does not slow down.
The new year will bring us some of the most anticipated series of the genre and, therefore, we anticipate the 5 that are causing the most expectation. And watch out for the last, because it can be a bombshell and that, for now, in Spain we are left with the desire.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
Star Trek is experiencing a renaissance. The series Picard Y Star Trek: Discovery demonstrated. In addition to the fact that they do not resemble the original series at all, their creators demonstrate a total ignorance of the franchise and, in general, they are generic science fiction stories with thousands of colors and explosions as a claim.
So let’s see if the third time is the charm and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds mix the best of both worlds. If you’re trekkie, you will have caught the reference.
Little is known about the series, except that it will tell the adventures of Captain Christopher Pike in command of the Enterprise original and which we have already seen in the series Star Trek: Discovery.
The arrival? There is no exact date yet, but it is expected on Netflix for the spring of this 2022.
Star Wars: Andor
From Star Trek to Star Wars. One of the many new series in the franchise coming to Disney + this year is Andor.
In it it will be narrated the story of the character played by Diego Luna in the film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, telling us the events that led up to the events of that movie.
No, K2SO is not in the series according to its creator, Alan Tudyk, so the prequel is likely to be set quite a few years earlier. No exact date is known yet, but Disney has assured that it arrives this year.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Undoubtedly, the series of Star wars most anticipated, after a turbulent journey of cancellations and doubts. Its main attraction, without a doubt, is to see Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen reprising their roles as Kenobi and Darth Vader, respectively.
Will be 6 episodes and again, its release date is undecided yet, but it will be on Disney Plus before the end of the year.
The Peripheral
Another series that most science fiction fans are waiting for is, without a doubt, The Peripheral. Based on a book by the mythical author William Gibson, which defined the main lines of the genre cyberpunk, will tell the story of Flynne, the main character, who believes he has witnessed a murder in cyberspace.
I know will debut on Amazon, Chloë Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass) will play Flynne and produced by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, responsible for Westworld. The adaptation is provided by Scott Smith. Again, there is no specific date, but it is expected this year.
Halo, the series of the famous video game that, for now, you will not be able to see
And if it is about series that we wait in advance, Halo takes the cake with the permission of Obi-Wan Kenobi. There have always been plans to capture the adventures of master Chief (don’t eat the i) and Cortana, in her fight against him Covenant.
We will see what they have done, although the trailer looks good. The problem? We will see what happens in Spain, because the series is available on Paramount +, which is not in our country right now.
