It’s no secret that the European Union intends to force all devices with a built-in battery to come with the ability to easily change it. However, for some time now we have seen how certain manufacturers have tried to sell products in which they are an inseparable part of it, thereby causing a planned obsolescence of the book. That is why we are going to explain why we believe that replaceable batteries should be the only option on the market.
Planned obsolescence has harmful effects on the environment and this is usually associated with the battery of many products, which once it has reached the end of its life cycle turns them into true dead weights that do nothing but pollute. All with the intention of creating much faster consumption cycles in a maelstrom that has caused an enormous amount of garbage in the form of electronic devices. However, the fact of being able to change the battery of our not only has positive effects on the environment, but also on us.
Why should you always choose replaceable batteries?
Well, two of the answers to this we have already given you in the introduction; to avoid an artificial programmed obsolescence imposed by the manufacturer and to reduce the amount of garbage in the world, although they are not the only reasons and that is that one of the trends of all consumer electronics manufacturers is to save money in those parts where they do not we usually look and one of them is the rechargeable batteries that come standard with many products, which are usually of worse quality and performance than those that can be found independently.
Worst of all, is that they have managed to sell the motorcycle to many of us because the fact of having replaceable batteries is bad, when we are given the option of being able to choose a higher quality one, which also when its life cycle ends will allow us to continue using the device like the first day. Moreover, it is best to have several sets of batteries at the same time, to alternate between them and that together allow us to use the product for a long time.
Whether or not they affect performance on laptops
In the case of laptops, the different components are designed to work with two profiles: mains and battery. Things would be simple if both things went hand in hand, but really the type of battery chosen does affect the performance of a laptop when we don’t have it plugged in and often not with slight speed cuts.
For what type of products are they best?
It is the same if we talk about the control of a console, a laptop, a wireless mouse, what we are counting applies to all kinds of products. Do you have a video game console from one or two generations? Well, possibly you can’t play with it because the battery of its control has run out and there is a replacement. How about that MP3 music player where you have a huge amount of songs and that you can’t use today? The reality is that we could enjoy many of them today, at full capacity and like the first day.
In a few years we will see how there will be a series of products, typical of the last decade, which cannot be recovered in the future precisely because they do not have replaceable batteries as standard. What’s more, that product with integrated battery that you like so much you will no longer use it in a few years, not because you have something better, but because it will have become obsolete.
