Apple receives criticism for the problems that Stage Manager has

Stage Manager is one of the most anticipated and most important functions that iPadOS 16 will introduce. We have already talked about it in previous articles, where we told you that it is basically a multitasking system that will allow us run 8 apps simultaneously and switch between them effortlessly, using the iPad screen and an external display with resolution up to 6K.

Apple has already warned that Stage Manager is a very demanding function, and that is why it would only be possible to use it in iPads that had an M1 SoC. The models with previous chips within the A Bionic series do not have, in theory, the capacities and the necessary power to move smoothly and really satisfactory Stage Manager. Obviously, this generated some discomfort, although in the end it was understandable.

The fact is that the most recent tests of Stage Manager in the iPadOS 16 beta that has been in circulation for a while confirm the worst forecasts, said feature is “unstable, difficult to use, and has a buggy UI that ruins the user experience”. These are comments from those who have tested this feature in its beta phase, and they highlight that Apple needs to understand that this feature cannot be released in its current state, that it is better to delay and improve it than to accelerate its release and release it in a version with too many flaws.

Still, this isn’t to say that Apple hasn’t done some things right. In Stage Manager, the system takes care of keeping multitasking applications organized, and center the one we are working with in the foreground. This means that the user no longer has to do it manually, and can focus directly on their work. Other problems have also been reported, such as the “destruction” of application workspaces when an external display is connected, something that Apple is aware of and that according to the apple company “works as expected”.

iPadOS 16 release expected to happen this very fallAlthough we don’t have an exact date yet. Apple still has some room to improve how Stage Manager works, so we’ll see what state it’s in for the end user. We don’t think there will be a delay at the end.
