Bad news if you wanted a big iMac, leaker reports

Mark Gurman, one of the most reputable leakers talking about Apple, has recently spoken about what the company’s plan would be with its iMac range. The analyst does not rule out a larger version of this team, although it is as imagined by some and as has been common in recent years.

We remember that Apple has been offering iMac in two sizes for years: 21.5 and 27 inches. These, despite some punctual difference, admitted the same configurations. However, the arrival of Apple Silicon as the main chips in its computers could change things. Officially we already know the 24-inch iMac, which comes to replace the 21.5. Everything pointed to the fact that this 2022 we would see one that would replace the 27, which is still on sale with Intel processors, but according to Gurman, this will not really be the case.

Apple will differentiate the iMac from the iMac Pro

Until now we have only had one generation of iMac Pro, launched in 2017 and with the sole objective of covering a demanding public niche waiting for the company to successfully complete its next Mac Pro. This eventually became quite outdated and the Last year it was officially known that it was no longer for sale, although according to Gurman, it would be temporarily.

The Bloomberg analyst says the company doesn’t want to offer a range of iMacs in two sizes and then set aside other ranges. What he says is that Apple would be thinking of making a single range of 24-inch iMacs and then another more professional one with the surname ‘Pro’ and sizes of 27 inches or more. In this way we understand that there would be significant differences in performancesince the iMac range would mount M1 chips and their successors, while the ‘Pro’ would carry M1 Pro/M1 Max and their subsequent ones.

Actually, it had been known for a long time that the company would integrate those powerful chips into its largest desktop, but if someone had the slightest hope of seeing a version larger than 24 and with the same configuration, they should undo it. In fact, the price difference between the two it could be very high, as is already the case in the range of laptops between the M1 and M1 Pro/M1 Max.

Launch imminent?

Mark Gurman himself stated several weeks ago that on March 8 there would be a Apple special event to introduce new products. In the absence of confirming this date, which would not occur until a week before, it seems clear that sooner or later the company will present something new. And it is that in these months we usually have their first products of the year.

This iMac Pro could be precisely one of them and more so if we take into account that new unspecified Mac models have been presented at the Eurasian Economic Commission. The Mac mini, MacBook Air and even a 13-inch MacBook Pro are in the pools, but in the same way as this desktop model. Therefore, we are waiting to see what happens in these weeks because all the information regarding this iMac Pro could already be confirmed.
