Dyson’s craziest idea will come to Spain so you can breathe (and hear) better

Dyson Zone

Dyson is known worldwide for its powerful vacuum cleaners, although it must be recognized that it has also managed to carve out an important niche in other sectors such as beauty, with its dryers and hair equipment, or that of air purifiers. And precisely in this last segment he finds himself involved again in a rather particular way: with some headphoneswhich we already told you about a few months ago, and which are now back in the news because, believe it or not, they have already been put up for sale.

In true Mad Max style

Dyson’s idea is quite clear: he wants to offer us the possibility of wearing a portable air purifier wherever we go and if it comes with integrated headphones, better than better. Or is it just the opposite? Independiently of it It was before chicken or the eggwhat is clear is that we are facing one of the most curious and strange devices of the season, with one of those designs that make you raise an eyebrow and of which you really doubt if it will finally be placed on the shelves.

Dyson Zone headphones put all the meat on the grill at the level of sound quality: they have very careful electronics that ensure ultra-low distortion, reproduce frequencies from 6Hz-21kHz and boast advanced noise cancellation that has nothing to envy to other top models in the sector such as those from Sony or Apple. For the latter, the team uses 8 of the 11 integrated microphones, reducing sound by up to 38 dB thanks to continuous monitoring of everything it perceives (we are talking about an analysis 384,000 times per second).

They also claim to have an adjustment of equalization “unique” and a feeling of total immersive listening, also ensuring clear and comfortable conversations when holding a call with headphones on. As for autonomy, it is worth mentioning: 50 hours, only playing audio.

So far everything normal. They are still a high-end proposal, with a very futuristic appearance and designed for people who are very demanding in terms of sound. The greatest particularity, of course, comes when it comes to knowing its accessory integrated (and that you can remove and put at your whim): a purifier capable of cleaning the air you breathe that you will carry in front of your mouth and nose whenever you attach it to the headphones.

The detachable visor projects the purified air towards the user’s nose and mouth, using a pair of electrostatic filters, which are changed every 12 months and capture 99% of particulate pollution down to 0.1 microns. In this way, let’s say that Dyson is committed to tackling two current problems in our society: noise pollution and air pollution – be careful, by doing so the autonomy of the set drops from 50 hours to 4 hours.

And it is that the company uses data from the WHO to remember that we are continuously exposed to these important risks, that the situation undoubtedly it can only get worse and that anyone concerned about it, can use their product to safeguard themselves.

Is the idea as crazy as it seems?

The design is shocking, without a doubt, but perhaps today’s society is not currently prepared to carry this type of device every time it goes out – if masks already bothered us, imagine something like that. The current pace we are at may well make in a few decades we are all wearing a similar device to move abroad without putting our health at risk, but currently it is difficult for a user to bet on something like this taking into account the cost (which we will talk about now) and the benefit.

It goes without saying that the headphones are accompanied by an app in which you can see the levels of air quality and environmental noise around you -its interface is similar to what you can see if you have an air purifier from the brand since it uses the same application.

Dyson Zone price and availability

As we anticipated, the headphones are not cheap (the brand itself is not). Such is the case that the Dyson Zone is priced at no less than 949 dollars – we do not know for the moment its conversion to euro.

It will be on sale next month in some countries such as China (it is very wise to start there with the serious pollution problem they have). It will be followed later by other Asian regions, the US and the UK for the month of June reach Spain.

Do you see yourself with something like that on the street?
