The RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB and 3080 12 GB are postponed and the 3090 Ti?

Script twist at NVIDIA and a change in strategy approach against its rivals, where in just a few days two new graphics cards were going to be presented and launched in just over a month the company did everything to launch another different offensive. What is NVIDIA up to now? Why are you postponing RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB and RTX 3080 12 GB? What about the RTX 3090 Ti?

The news from the GPU market has been bad for over a year now. We had a dejavu on the drop after setting all-time price records, but again the trend continues. Although we already know and have confirmed that this maelstrom is incited solely by cryptocurrencies as a central pillar, NVIDIA backtracks with its strategy and cancels presentations leaving only one GPU to show.

Here you have to make two different sections, one for each GPU, since NVIDIA is having different points of view as it is filtered. We will start with RTX 3080 12 GB, since it is the graphics card that seems to be less interesting for Huang’s.

The reasons are simple: there is no real competition with AMD, Intel is not going to reach the performance of this in the first instance with its Xe GPUs and therefore there is not too much rush when we consider that the current RTX 3080 is sold at the moment.

But other reasons are cited as background. The first of them is the fact of reserving the GDDR6X for other models and so they are not affected by stock cuts in this component, while the second is linked to the first: shortage problems of certain electronic materials and key parts.

The problem would reach such an extent that a possible closure of the manufacturing plants of the 90% because there is no work to do due to the shortage. To alleviate this catastrophe, many factories are launching themselves to manufacture other components where they have never ventured before, such as AIOs.

Refering to RTX 3070 TiIt seems that NVIDIA is going to wait for the Chinese New Year as Intel will launch its GPUs sometime near this event. This new NVIDIA GPU is created to compete with the high-end of Pat Gelsinger exclusively, so overtaking it seeing the shortage made no sense and will be left on standby.

It will be the only GPU that will continue with the plan established by the brand to open a gap with AMD and take advantage of the pull once again of cryptocurrencies. Therefore, it will be presented at CES 2022 and will take the top of the range from NVIDIA at a price that will be as high as its performance. The launch will be before February, so there is not much seen what has been seen.

It seems that everything is focused on the market where there will be no competition and then cover their backs as necessary and models from AMD and Intel arrive. What seems clear is that NVIDIA will only hit where it knows it can and staying cautious may be the best strategy for what is to come.
