what to expect from the Samsung event

On February 9, Samsung is hosting a new Galaxy Unpacked event and many new features are expected. We have compiled for you what to expect from this conference.

Last straight line for Samsung before organizing its Galaxy Unpacked 2022. Just a few weeks after the official release of the Galaxy S21 FE, the South Korean giant is preparing a new major event. Samsung is meeting on February 9, at 4 p.m. (Paris time), to present its latest innovations.

Unless there is a last minute surprise, it is during this event that the Korean firm will formalize the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra. The trio that makes up the Galaxy S22 series no longer has many secrets and the event should above all be an opportunity for Samsung to confirm the information circulating on the web. Indeed, the data sheets have already made an appearance on social networks and the range must be based on the Exynos 2200. The SoC designed by the semiconductor division of Samsung has just been presented and is based on the AMD RDNA 2 technology.

Galaxy S22: towards a merger between the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note ranges

The Galaxy S22 would have a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen (2,340 x 1,080 pixels) at 120 Hz. Its Exynos 2200 chip would be supported by 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage, as well as a a 3700 mAh battery. On the photo side, the classic model would have three modules with a main sensor of 50 megapixels (f / 1.8), an ultra wide-angle of 12 Mpx (f / 2.2) and a telephoto lens of 10 megapixels (f / 2 ,4). At the front, the Galaxy S22 would carry a 10 megapixel camera (f / 2.2).

Regarding the Galaxy S22 +, it should take up most of the characteristics of its little brother. Stamped “+”, it would benefit from a larger screen (6.6 inches) and a larger battery (4,500 mAh).

Among the three versions of the range, the Galaxy S22 Ultra crystallizes the attention. In addition to high-end features, Samsung’s flagship model is set to take over from a discontinued Galaxy Note range in 2021. The device is expected to benefit from further integration of the S-Pen stylus while the brand is already promising to present “the most remarkable, most notable, Galaxy S ever made”. The tone is set and the manufacturer’s desire to bring together “the best of the Galaxy experience in an ultimate product” will have a cost.

the flagship announces itself with a large 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen (3,080 x 1,440 pixels) at 120 Hz. Under the hood, its Exynos 2200 would be supported by 8 or 12 GB of RAM and an amount of storage of 128 , 256 or 512 GB. The Galaxy S22 Ultra would add a quadruple camera consisting of a main sensor of 108 megapixels (f / 1.8), an ultra wide-angle of 12 megapixels (f / 2.2), a telephoto of 10 megapixels (f / 2.4) and a periscopic zoom of 10 megapixels (f / 4.9). A front camera of 40 megapixels (f / 2.2) would once again be offered by Samsung. On paper, the photo part is reminiscent of that of its predecessor. A 5,000mAh battery would power this beefy setup.

The price list of future models has already leaked and promises prices comparable to those of the Galaxy S21. Expect prices ranging from 849 to 1,449 euros and this could vary by a few euros in France.

Galaxy Tab S8: Samsung will renew its high-end tablets

After the formalization of the Galaxy Tab A8 at the end of the year, Samsung is preparing new high-end tablets: the Galaxy Tab S8, Tab S8+ and Tab S8 Ultra. Like the trio of Galaxy S22 smartphones, rumors and leaks have been piling up for the past few weeks regarding Apple’s next iPad rivals. Samsung itself participated by mistakenly revealing a visual of its future Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra tablet. Posted on a support page, the snapshot – which has since been deleted – tends to confirm the presence of a notch.

If the choice is likely to divide, 91mobiles and the German site WinFuture have obtained the promising technical sheets of the three tablets. We learn that the three models would ship the new SoC Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from Qualcomm and Android 12, with the One UI 4.1 overlay.

The screen may vary depending on the model and the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra seems to want to oppose the iPad Pro. Samsung would equip its tablet with a 14.6-inch Super AMOLED screen, displaying a definition of 2960 x 1848 pixels at 120 Hz. To this would be added up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, as well as two 12-megapixel front cameras.

The Galaxy Tab S8+ would be less imposing with its 12.7-inch screen (AMOLED, 2,800 x 1,752 pixels) while the Tab S8 would be equipped with an 11-inch LCD screen (2,560 x 1,600 pixels). If the three tablets are expected with a dual sensor on the back (13 and 6 megapixels), the Tab S8 + and Tab S8 would be satisfied with a single 12 megapixel camera on the front.

The Tab S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra would be powered by batteries with a capacity of 8,000, 10,090 and 11,200 mAh respectively. On the price side, expect a hefty bill that will easily exceed 1,000 euros for some variants of the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. These items should be confirmed during the Galaxy Unpacked event.

See you on February 9

In the United States, Samsung already offers to reserve the “next Galaxy smartphone” or the next Galaxy tablet” with various bonuses. We therefore expect a presentation of these two new ranges on February 9th.
