A few weeks ago, we informed you of Apple’s interest in acquiring Reese Witherspoon’s production company Hello Sunshine, a production company behind the Apple TV + series The Morning Show and other products that will debut on Apple’s streaming video service.

Finally, the new owner of this production company is a company that has the backing of Backstone, has paid just under $ 1 billion, the price at which this production company was valued, a production company created by Reese Witherspoon with Seth Rodsky and Jim Toth in 2016 with the mission of “changing the narrative of women.”

Hello Sunshine is a media company that puts women at the center of every story we create, celebrate and discover. We tell stories that we love – from the great to the small, from the funny to the complex -, illuminating the current situation of women and helping them to chart a new path.

As reported a month ago by The Wall Street Journal, Apple was studying the possibility of acquiring Hello Sunshine with a valuation of around $ 1 billion. However, it seems that Apple had no special interest in acquiring it since it has finally gone to a media company backed by the Blackstone Group.

Details of the deal are not yet clear, but the still-unnamed Blackstone group company is said to be run by former Disney executives Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs. Hello Sunshine will be your first acquisition. Witherspoon and Sarah Harden, CEO of Hello Sunshine, will serve on the new company’s board of directors and continue to lead Hello Sunshine.
