While Hasbro is Paramount Pictures continue to churn out movie after movie based on the GI Joe and gods Transformers (and there are so many projects in the pipeline), the two universes are expanding like wildfire and, one day, those worlds could actually collide on the big screen in an event crossover.
It was the producer who revealed it Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who, during a recent interview with Uproxx, explained that a crossover between the two franchises is, according to him, “inevitable”.
Is a crossover between Transformers and GI Joe coming?
The producer was asked directly during the interview about the possibility of the arrival of a crossover between the two franchises. This was his response:
“You know, the truth is that the study has always been against it. Every person who has been in charge of Paramount is against it because they want to take two franchises and make one, but I think it’s inevitable. “
GI Joe and Transformers have a long history of crossover, in comics and on TV, so the idea of a film that combines the two franchises certainly doesn’t seem like an impossible thing. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts director Steven Caple Jr. is also a huge fan of both franchises, and speaking of this Bonaventura said:
“Well that’s funny, Steven Caple, who is directing Transformers right now, is also a huge GI Joe fan. And he was like, ‘Why don’t you do this?’ Everyone was saying, “Well, try to make a really good Transformers movie. Then we will talk about it ”. Maybe Steven will be the one to hire because he loves them both so much. “
